10 Ways to Develop Unshakeable Confidence in Yourself

We don’t want confidence just for the sake of it; we want it for a purpose. We want it to help us achieve our goals, follow our dreams, or perform better in some domain of life, such as sports, business, music, the arts, public speaking, parenting, or socializing.

Russ Harris

How can you develop a winning attitude and an unshakable belief in yourself?

By forcing your mind to look for the good in all experiences, regardless of whether they are positive or negative.

As you examine your core beliefs, you will see them reflected in every aspect of your life, from finances to reputation to success to love.

People with a strong sense of self-worth are focused on purpose, goals, perseverance, strengths, and accomplishments.

The most critical thing to them is finding meaning, happiness, fulfilment and contentment in their lives at all costs.

People who have winning attitudes are firmly convinced they can accomplish anything they set their minds to.

Because they create conditions for success, they are able to do so.

In this video, you’re going to learn 10 powerful strategies you can use to develop unshakeable self-confidence.

1. Become More Financially Savvy

Today, a lot of people keep their money in a savings account because it gives them a convenient place to store cash in case of an emergency.

“How many millionaires do you know who have become wealthy by investing in savings accounts? I rest my case.”

Robert G. Allen

It makes perfectly good sense to keep some money in the bank for emergencies.

However, it does not make sense to keep your entire savings in a bank.

Why not?

Well, several factors make this a bad idea, and we’ll examine the two biggest ones.

The first thing to consider is the interest rate.

Interest rates on savings accounts average around 0.05 per cent.

Put $10,000 in a savings account for 10 years and you’ll end up with a grand profit of $50.

An even bigger factor to consider is inflation.

Right now, the inflation rate is at historic levels across the globe, and it will take a massive toll on your cash savings.

What is inflation exactly?

Inflation is simply the gradual weakening of the value of money as a result of the rise in prices of goods and services.

For example, in the 1980s, a loaf of bread cost around 50 cents. Due to inflation, that same loaf of bread today costs more than $3.

In the US, inflation is currently at a 40-Year High of 7.9%. In the UK, it is expected to peak at 8.7% in the fourth quarter of 2022.

Inflation is as violent as a mugger, as frightening as an armed robber and as deadly as a hit man.

Ronald Reagan

Therefore, if you put $10,000 in a savings account for 10 years, your money will lose a massive chunk of purchasing power.

You owe it to yourself to ensure that the money you are working so hard for is also working for you.

A good rule of thumb is to save enough money to cover six months of living expenses, and then invest any excess funds in the stock market.

Think about this for a moment…

If you had invested $10,000 in Google shares 10 years ago, you would have seen a 500% return on that investment.

This means you would have made over $40,000 in profit.

Similarly, if you had invested in commodities like gold, you would have almost doubled your money.

This is why it is vitally important to learn how to invest in stocks, shares, mutual funds, bonds and commodities.

Millions of people have become rich through stock market investing and trading in the stock market.

It is well known that money will not bring you happiness.

“Risk comes from not knowing what you’re doing.”

Warren Buffett

That being said, financial independence provides a level of freedom that we all want to achieve.

This is why learning how to invest in the stock market makes perfect sense.

Investing in this manner can provide you with long-term financial stability and independence, as well as protect your money from the destructive effects of inflation.

Over time, as you build wealth through investing in the stock market, your confidence in your future will soar, and this will lead to unwavering belief in yourself that will last a lifetime.

2. Prioritize Your Health and Fitness

In today’s world, the name of the game is convenience.

The Internet has made it possible for us to do almost anything from the comfort of our computer chairs.

Everything from shopping for groceries to the daily commute to work requires little to no physical activity.

Consequently, it is easy to see exercise as a losing argument.

But the fact remains that our bodies are built for movement and activity.

This is evident in every aspect of the human anatomy, and being inactive can pose a serious threat to your mental and physical health.

“You have to exercise, or at some point you’ll just break down.”

Barack Obama

In contrast, when we exercise, our body produces feel-good chemicals and radiates a tremendous amount of positive energy that combats stress, anxiety, and depression.

Never forget that your body is the most valuable asset you will ever own in your lifetime.

And unlike most other assets you possess, the body is not something you can misuse and replace with a new one.

Consequently, it is vital that you take pride in the maintenance and care of this priceless piece of equipment.

No matter how low your baseline may be, just get moving!

3. Find Your Life’s Purpose

“The purpose of life is to live it, to taste experience to the utmost, to reach out eagerly and without fear for newer and richer experience.”

Eleanor Roosevelt

When you wake up on Monday morning and you’re not looking forward to work, it is because you’re not doing what you were born to do.

In other words, you haven’t discovered your life’s purpose.

Do you know which day of the week most people suffer heart attacks?

Mondays.

Scientists found that heart attack deaths are lowest on weekends and are at their highest on Mondays.

What does that tell you?

Working at a job you hate can be quite dangerous to your health, and can result in a heart attack or even death.

The good news is that, every single one of us was put on this earth for a specific reason.

And each of us has also been endowed with the skills and abilities we need to accomplish our life’s purpose.

All it takes is figuring out what our life’s purpose is, and identifying the talents and skills that we have been blessed with to achieve it.

It is not money or material possessions that separate those who are truly happy and fulfilled in life from those who are not.

What makes the difference is purpose.

“The mystery of human existence lies not in just staying alive, but in finding something to live for.”

Fyodor Dostoyevsky,

People who live their purpose every day live happily ever after.

As soon as you realize who you are and what your purpose is, you can’t wait to wake up every single morning, whether it’s a weekday or a weekend.

So, the question is, how do you find your life’s purpose?

Identify your natural strengths and passions, and use them as the foundation of your career and your life.

Finding your purpose will be a lot easier when you build your life around what comes naturally to you.

When you are living in alignment with your purpose everyday, you will develop a sense of confidence and self-worth that is unshakeable.

This is why understanding your purpose is so critical.

Nothing in life is more meaningful than that.

4. Surround Yourself With the Right People.

Surround yourself with really good people. I think that’s an important thing. Because the people you surround yourself are a reflection of you.

Aaron Rodgers

The company we keep is a direct reflection of who we are.

In other words, surrounding yourself with the right people can make or break you.

Character traits, emotions and attitudes can be contagious.

This is why we must avoid interacting with toxic people as much as possible.

You cannot surround yourself with people who are jealous, defeatist, overtly negative or who gossip.

It is impossible to accomplish anything meaningful when we carry emotional infections of this nature.

We must fill our lives with people who are positive, energetic, optimistic, driven, and motivated.

We can only grow by being around people who embody this type of energy and spirit.

5. Create A Personal Development Plan.

If you want to invest in yourself and reach your future goals, then you need a personal development plan.

A personal development plan is an investment in your future.

It will give you structure.

It will help you remain proactive.

“Learn to work harder on yourself than on your job.”

Jim Rohn

It will also motivate you to take consistent steps forward to achieve your goals whether they are career-based, academic, or personal.

What exactly is a personal development plan?

A personal development plan is a document that acts as a guide to self-improvement and self-reflection.

It is an efficient way to track your progress and measure your success.

You can use it as an action plan to guide you from where you are now to where you want to be.

Your personal development plan can be used to establish personal goals, identify weaknesses, acknowledge strengths, and assess which aspects of your life need improvement.

Personal development plans should also account for any potential obstacles you might face.

You can’t just make a note of them, though.

“Men are anxious to improve their circumstances, but are unwilling to improve themselves; they therefore remain bound.”

James Allen

Your plan should also indicate what must be done to overcome those challenges.

Personal development plans look different because they are uniquely designed for each individual.

They can be used as a tool for demonstrating your knowledge and skills and to motivate you to maintain your progress.

What you do now to improve yourself will determine what level of success you achieve in the future.

Right now, the two biggest tools in your arsenal are your time and energy.

Your two most powerful tools will help you succeed in life as long as you channel them in the right direction.

6. Learn Everything You Can And Broaden Your Horizons

learning illustration

Simply put, broadening your horizons means experiencing or learning about things that you have never experienced or learned before.

It is about opening your mind to different opinions, thoughts and experiences.

Learning is a lifelong process that does not end with graduation from school.

By constantly expanding your horizons and learning everything you can, you will discover a great deal about yourself.

Learning helps you move beyond fear, it helps you improve your self-awareness, and it helps you improve yourself.

It’s one of the best investments you can make in yourself.

“There is no end to education. It is not that you read a book, pass an examination, and finish with education. The whole of life, from the moment you are born to the moment you die, is a process of learning.”

Jiddu Krishnamurti

There are a variety of ways to learn more and become more knowledgeable.

You can:

Take online courses on sites like Skillshare, Udemy and Coursera.

Watch educational videos on YouTube.

Browse informative websites.

You can also benefit from reading books and listening to podcasts by successful individuals.

Keep an open mind and never stop learning.

You can also broaden your horizons by traveling.

What better way to broaden your horizons than to step out of your comfort zone and zip code?

But as helpful as travel is for expanding your horizons, it isn’t affordable for everyone.

However, that shouldn’t prevent you from doing so.

If you don’t have the time or money to explore the world, you can start your tourist journey much closer to home.

Start with your own city but view it as a tourist would.

Think of the art galleries, museums, and amusement parks closest to you.

You can also use travel as a metaphor to broaden your horizons by exploring the experiences and ideas that we pick up from traveling.

It can be something as simple as taking a French cooking class, trying cuisine from different countries, or ordering a meal at a nearby restaurant.

“I am always ready to learn although I do not always like being taught.”

Winston Churchill

You can also learn a new language.

Read up about a country you have always wanted to visit, learn about their history, culture, and customs.

These are all different ways to travel without leaving the comfort of your own home.

7. Live a life of Gratitude

Gratitude illustration

We all talk about the power of gratitude and how it can change our lives, reduce stress, and improve our overall health and wellbeing.

But what is gratitude really?

The concept of gratitude is the simple act of expressing appreciation for what you have and connecting with something greater than yourself.

Once you learn how to be grateful and appreciate what you have, you will realize how powerful it is.

“As we express our gratitude, we must never forget that the highest appreciation is not to utter words but to live by them.”

John F. Kennedy

In tough times, it’s easy to fall into a pattern of ungratefulness.

By shifting your perspective from one of negativity to one of gratitude, you may be surprised at how much more positive your outlook becomes.

When you practice gratitude, you are making an effort to find positive outcomes in spite of challenging circumstances.

For example, you might view overwhelming situations, such as losing your job, as a chance to find something more meaningful and fulfilling, closer to home and more lucrative.

This allows you to look at tough situations with a positive outlook and completely change your mindset.

Just transforming your mindset can have a profound ripple effect that changes your mood dramatically every day.

The simple act of being grateful affects all kinds of aspects of your life, including your relationships, your ability to achieve personal goals, and more.

Practicing gratitude on a daily basis will give you both confidence and a feeling of accomplishment regardless of where you are in life.

8. Practice Mindfulness

People often think mindfulness involves something related to the mind, but they don’t understand much more than that.

Mindfulness is also referred to as staying in the “here and now.”

It is the art of intentionally focusing attention on the present moment and embracing that moment without judgement.

We are aware and focused on what is happening at this very moment.

We are not distracted by technology, things on our to do list, priorities, people, memories of the past, or worries about the future.

It involves paying attention to what is happening in the mind, body, and the surrounding environment, and approaching those things with both curiosity and compassion.

“To fall in love with yourself is the first secret to happiness.”

Robert Morely

Practicing mindfulness also helps you tune in to your body’s signals, which in turn improves your health and wellbeing.

This makes it a vital tool for your physical well-being.

Being attuned to your body can help you to know when something is not right with your physical health.

This can be lifesaving.

Many studies have been conducted on mindfulness, and the Mayo Clinic reports that there is plenty of evidence regarding its effectiveness in treating a variety of ailments including pain, stress, anxiety, insomnia and hypertension.

It takes work and practice to make mindfulness into a habit that you practice regularly.

Start improving your mental health with mindfulness practices today.

9. Keep a Daily Journal

A lot of successful people report that they write in a journal every day.

Journaling is a practice that has long been recognized and valued for its ability to clarify and bring order to people’s lives.

Recording your thoughts, habits, and emotions in a journal first allows you to become more aware of yourself.

This process can be a quiet moment in your day that gives you inner peace and allows you to focus just on yourself.

Additionally, it is a valuable tool for gaining a better understanding of yourself, and can provide a perspective and insight into your life that no other activity can provide.

The better you understand yourself, the more aware you are of who you are, what you are doing and why.

Journaling is the perfect activity for anyone interested in exploring their values and beliefs, their goals, their motivations, as well as their fears and concerns.

“Fill your paper with the breathings of your heart.”

William Wordsworth

The act of reflecting on what you have done, how you have felt, or how you have spent your day can strengthen your mindfulness and reflection skills.

By keeping a journal, you can also establish a record of your life over the years, so that you can look for patterns and themes that we rarely encounter at the moment.

A journal becomes a record of your life, and you can use it to uncover clues regarding your motives and your emotions.

You can gain a lot of insight into yourself when you give yourself that level of attention and care.

10. Keep A Positive Attitude At All Times

Lady smiling at herself in the mirror

The first step to improving yourself as a person is to work on your mindset.

That is the place to start if you are serious about becoming the best version of yourself you can be.

You can make the most of any situation or experience in your life when you have a positive mindset.

But what exactly is a positive mindset?

It is a way of describing how you deal with life’s many problems and obstacles.

You look at every experience you have as a learning opportunity, and you apply what you learn from these experiences to your life so you can achieve your goals.

Positive thinking also improves your brain’s growth and keeps it agile.

By thinking positively throughout your life, you keep your brain healthy and active as a result of a growth mindset.

“The greatest discovery of all time is that a person can change his future by merely changing his attitude.”

Oprah Winfrey

You can think positively by following these steps:

1. Take one or two minutes each day to look for positives in your life. Practicing this three times a day for 45 days will cause your brain to learn how to do it automatically.

2. Take some time to think of a positive mantra for the day – something like “I love today” “Today is amazing” or “I am grateful for everything I have.” Never underestimate the value of seeing the bright side of things.

When you think positively, you become optimistic about the world around you, about yourself, and about your own future.

In addition, you develop traits that help you grow professionally and personally.

However, practicing positive thinking cannot be a passive process.

It’s not enough to simply think positively and expect miracles to happen.

You must take action by identifying your life’s purpose, exploring your passions, building on your strengths and working on your weaknesses.

In addition, develop a healthy and dedicated support system that encourages you to be the most positive and authentic version of yourself.

Many people become impatient when their positive thinking does not produce results.

This is because, if optimism doesn’t lead to direct and meaningful action, it becomes little more than wishful thinking.

“Always end the day with a positive thought. No matter how hard things were, tomorrow is a fresh opportunity to make it better.”
