The first thing affiliate managers look at is your website URL. Your website URL is the most important part of your application. Ensure that:

  • The website is live.
  • You are applying for an affiliate program whose content matches your website. If you write about web hosting and internet security, you have no business joining a fashion affiliate program.
  • Your website does not have too many banner ads.

Even if you don’t have a blog, you may be approved if you are active on social media and have a following on Facebook, Instagram, or Twitter. When applying, you should list the most active and largest social media profile in the URL section of the website.

Make your bio stand out

You have the opportunity to shine in your bio. This is your opportunity to let the affiliate manager know who you are and what you can do for them. Discuss your expertise in the niche you’re specializing in. Describe it as a niche that you’re passionate about.

Tell your audience if you have a personal connection to the product you’re selling. For example, if you are applying to sell an acne product and have dealt with the condition in the past, explain how that experience has affected you. By doing so, you will be a stronger candidate.

Plan your course of action

When you apply for a new affiliate program, the manager needs to be convinced that you are capable of driving sales. In other words, you need a plan that shows you’re dedicated to building a successful affiliate marketing business.

In your promotional plan, you should specify which promotional methods you will use to generate sales. It is important to read the terms and conditions of the program to learn what is and is not allowed. You must demonstrate focus and determination.

The following is a list of promotional methods and what they mean:

  • Using email marketing, you will promote affiliate products to your list.
  • Content marketing: Your content will include affiliate links.
  • A number of your social media posts will include affiliate links.
  • You will run paid ads on Google, Bing, and social media to boost sales.
  • You’ll drive affiliate sales through display advertising on your website.
  • Review/Compare: You’ll review affiliate products and compare them.
